Wildlife Awareness at The Children's Museum

Ever wonder about wildlife? The Texas Forest Service has teamed up with multiple organizations to develop a pioneer outreach program for children. More Kids in the Woods is a funded campaign designed to inspire youth and their families to pursue outdoor experiences.

At the Children's Museum of Houston, families will have the opportunity to participate in interactive and educational activities, exhibits and programs and learn about all the different types of snakes and reptiles native to Texas and how to better their natural habitat. Kids will also get the chance to hold live snakes and hissing cockroaches.

In addition, you can also meet Smokey the Bear, who will talk about fire safety and how to prevent forest fires.

Participating organizations include: Texas Forest Service, US Forest Service, Stephen F. Austin State University, Urban Connections, Amigo del Bosque, and Heartwood Chapter Texas Master Naturalists.

WHEN: August 19, 2009 from 11am– 3pm

WHERE: Children’s Museum of Houston- 1500 Binz, Houston, TX 77004

MUSEUM HOURS: Mon. – Sat.; 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.; Sun: Noon – 6 p.m.
