The 21st Annual Young Inventors’ Showcase has come and gone, but the winners are here to stay.

Kids competed for the chance of a lifetime to win a free patent application for their idea on May 30, 2009.

All inventions were great ideas, but the Grand Prize went to Lanier Middle School’s Kayley Hoag and Nikki Foreman.

They were the masterminds behind the Burn B Gone. The Burn B Gone prevents burns on the ears or forehead when curling or flat-ironing hair. They made their invention from ironing board cloth that was sown together to make a headband.
