Printmaking, painting, photography, and clay are just a few of the classes offered at Creative Hearts Art School, a residential art school located in Katy, Texas.

This is not your typical "craft camp"-- children learn valuable lessons in art, creativity, and self esteem as well as produce beautiful works of art. The class is taught in what can be compared to a private school setting with a very low student to teacher ratio. They limit their class size to ten and always use two teachers.

Creative Hearts Art School was founded by Jordan Dailey, a senior at the University of Houston majoring in EC-4 Generalist and Special Education. She is the lead teacher and teaches alongside Lucas Cantu, who is a senior at the University of Houston majoring in 4th-8th Grade Education with a focus in History. Both Jordan and Lucas have at least three years experience teaching children with age ranges from 6 months to 15 years.

Classes are offered in two separate age groups: children entering grades K-4 and children entering grades 5-8. The lower level students are taught from 9 AM until 10:30 AM while the higher level students are taught from 10:45 AM until 12:15 PM.

Students begin each class day with a lesson on a particlar artist, work of art, or type of art. Students view pictures, posters, videos, and more to get a complete grasp on the topic. After taking in all that knowledge, students will participate in a variety of projects using a variety of media that ranges from  the simple paper and pencil to the more complex canvas and paintbrush.

Each class builds upon the lessons taught in previous classes so it is recommended that children attend all classes, but it is not mandatory.
