KISD's First Day of School is Here

Alarms all over the Katy area were going off early this morning as families all over our area were getting up to prepare their chidren for the first day of school.

Today most children will have an easier time of getting up because of the excitement of seeing friends, new clothes and backpacks, and just the first day of school jitters.

If you happen to be a Mom of a kindergartener (or any Mom having a difficult transition) and you are having a difficult time letting go, just know that everything will be alright. Change can be difficult but can bring wonderful, new experiences too.

We'd love to hear about your First Day experience. Comment and let us all know how it went.

FreckleTown wishes you a great school year!

I have TWO in school now and I have to tell you that I thought I'd be all excited but it's lonely and I'm already missing them!!! Boy, my house is quiet... my youngest is not up yet.

My daughter was so funny, being the "overprotective Mommy" when we got to school. She put up my son's backpack even though the teacher really wanted him to do it so that he would learn where to put his things. Of course she assured him that she would walk him to his room every morning and take care of him. Such the Mommy.

We delivered our traditional snicker doodle cookies to the kids' new and "old" (sure they wouldn't want to be called that) teachers, plus a few friends of mine that I taught with YEARS ago that are now at the school.

It took me awhile but I'm finally feeling "at home" at the school, now that I know some of the teachers.

I have to admit that I did have tears in my eyes when I hugged my oldest goodbye and told her that we were praying for her. Something about goodbyes always gets me.

Afterwards I headed to Starbucks for my caffeine addiction and was not surprised to find a TON of people there (mostly Moms).

A good first day. :-)
