Katy Kids Can Learn About Hurricanes

Hurricane season ends November 30th. Even with the appearance of Gustav, Hanna, and now Tropical Storm Ivan there may be more on the way. Being prepared is the best way to deal with inclement weather. Hurricane Gustav

In KISD parents can sign up to receive e-mail alerts when decisions are made due to the weather. Enter the school, e-mail address and phone number and the district will send up-to-date information as they proceed through readiness levels.

To track hurricanes as a family, get a hurricane tracking guide here, thanks to the Home Depot.

Children can learn to track hurricanes just like meteorologists with a site called, Weather Wiz Kids. Kids can also submit questions to be answered such as, "Why is the sky blue?" or "Why are clouds white?" and Crystal Wicker, a meteorologist from Indiana, will answer their questions.
