The carnival trailers began coming into downtown Katy Monday morning bright and early. My kids cheered when they saw them and I knew I'd better save my lunch money for the rides!

It's that time again for Katy residents to enjoy a day or two at the annual Rice Harvest Festival on Oct 9th and 10th. If the weatherman is right, we'll have perfect weather for shopping, listening to bands, eating things on a stick, enjoying a funnel cake (or 2), picking up lots of freebies and enjoying a day outside with our Katy families. Fall in Katy is the best!

Here are the details you need to know:
1. Parking is available free of charge at the Outdoor Learning Center behind the Merrell Center. Free Shuttle service is provided to and from the parking areas to the festival grounds.
2. The festival is held on the streets of historic downtown Katy between 1st Street and 4th Street and Ave A to Ave D.
3. Admission is $7/adult, children 12 and under are free.
4. Pets are welcome – please keep on a leash or carry them. ( No exotic pets)
5. Carnival armbands can be purchased in advance or at the Katy Rice Harvest Festival. Armbands are available for $20.00/daily for Saturday and Sunday. The armbands are good for one day and for all rides. A special $15 wristband is available for Friday night only. Friday night carnival wristbands are only available from the carnival and are not available for advance purchase.
6. If you have a wagon you might want to take it. Walking around all day may cause whining to occur :-)
