Healthy Eating for Kids at Chick fil A

If you've been following FreckleTown for awhile, or you know me personally my next sentence will not surprise you. There are only two fast food restaurants I spend my hard-earned money on - Chick fil A and Subway. These two restaurants have yet to let me down with quality and taste, not to mention the fact that there are more than one or two healthy options when I go.

It's obvious the choices at Subway but Chick fil A has me in love again. Just when I thought I couldn't love a restaurant more (I mean what fast food place puts fresh flowers on the table, carries your food to the table, and has teenagers who use manners?) they go and add several more healthy options, and not just for me but for my kiddos as well.

On Jan 9th Chick fil A began offering grilled chicken nuggets as an option for the kid's meal and they are yummy (I snuck one from my daughter). Six nuggets are only 110 calories! When you add in a low fat milk and "Buddy fruit" with it the whole meal is just 260 calories. If your child prefers the crunchy nuggets it is only 90 calories more, which is still a healthier option than most fast food kids meal selections. So not only are they getting food they'll love but their bodies are also getting the nutrition it needs.

If you have a child who happens to enjoy soup then the new tortilla soup is perfect for him/her. The 120 calorie soup (medium) has spice but is not too spicy and comes with a separate package of corn torilla strips. It's perfect for warming up little tummies on a cold day.

So I'm in love all over again. It's refreshing to have a restaurant that truly cares about its customers. From the "Welcome to Chick fil A" to the "My pleasure", I know my children and I will be taken care of the minute we walk through the doors. Now that's something to write about!
