Espresso Yourself
Tuesday, April 06 2010, 6:30pm - 9:00pm

“Espresso Yourself” is an event inspired by coffee Meet Barista David Buehrer, one of Houston’s Best Baristas. David will share his passion in making the perfect cup of coffee and create amazing creations that will delight your senses. Local pastry chefs will compete for the “brew” ribbon as they create unique desserts that must contain coffee as an ingredient. Special guest Clive Berkman, world class chef and author, will be present to judge these creative entries. Clive will also have copies of his book, “Empty Bottle Moments” available for purchase. Artists Claire Payne, Elizabeth Bailey, Karen Richardson and Vickie McMillan will be painting with coffee. Artwork by Karen Eland will also be on display. Coffee art is a truly unique art form. It requires a thoughtful and delicate touch. Eland uses a slow and sophisticated process of building layers upon layers of espresso to capture the depth of the classic works she showcases. Karen puts a modern and caffeinated spin on classic paintings by famous painters like Vermeer, DaVinci, Michelangelo, and Picasso. The girls from National Charity League – Katy Chapter will also be sharing their beautifully painted ceramic coffee mugs. Local musician Jawad will play smooth and easy music to compliment this very special evening.
