Grand Prize winner to receive free patent opportunity!
May 14, 2011
Sponsored by Shell Oil Company – US and Wong Cabello
Are you ready to see another great inventor receive a free patent application and be added to the ranks of the Inventors’ Gates? Head to the Children's Museum of Houston (CMH) to see inventions created by kids just like you at the 23rd Annual Young Inventors’ Showcase of Houston. Children from Kindergarten through eighth grade will take imagination to the next level as they compete to show off the next great invention. You never know - this competition could make your light bulb flicker and encourage you to come up with an idea of your own!
Contestants will journey beyond their realms of their imaginations to devise a totally original creation, or develop their own invention based on an existing product. They will display designs following the common rule of invention: “How can I make something better?”
The Grand Prize winner will receive a free patent application and will join the ranks of other famous inventors (including Thomas Edison, who invented the light bulb, Arthur Fry, who invented Post-Its, and George de Mestral, who invented Velcro) by being recognized on the Inventors’ Gates at the Invention Convention exhibit. Each grade level category will include a first, second and third prize winner.
Participating contestants previously submitted a prototype of their invention and were notified they had been chosen for the finals. These finalists will be on-site at CMH with their prototype from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 14 for final judging. |
