The ceremonial program will include remarks by Mike Mastrangelo, VFW Post senior vice commander, who served at the Pentagon, as well as in New York, during much of his military career.

“The events of that day and its impact on our country can neither be forgotten nor downplayed. We hope our ceremony will remind our citizens of just what is at stake,” Mastrangelo said.

Police, fire, rescue workers and medical first responders, including all who helped others on the attack sites, will be remembered during the ceremony for their courage, valor and heroism. Those who now serve in these areas will be recognized along with the military, who continue to defend our country from future attack.

Local elected officials, dignitaries and business leaders will also be participating in the event.

The ceremony will take place beginning at 6 p.m. at LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch. In case of inclement weather, the event will be relocated to the VFW Hall, 6206 George Bush Drive in old Katy.

VFW officials stress the ceremonial program is a community service with no charge for admission.
