      Explore the physics behind creating stuff. Come learn how simple machines, like the pulley, evolved into some of the most complex structures we see today.  

    • Nano-palooza: Daily Special. This whole day celebration will have you exploring some of the new stuff to come out of nanotechnology. 

            Thursday, July 30:  All Day

    • Electro-Mechanical Folk Art (EMFA): Daily Special.  Let your mind run wild with possibilities in this invention event!  Take apart broken appliances, like VCRs, radios, computers, and more, and explore their inner workings.

      Friday, July 31: 10:30 a.m., 12:30, 2:30 & 4:30 p.m. in the Inventors' Workshop

    • The Brazilian Arts Foundation: Spotlight Performance. Watch this great foundation perform capoeira, an African dance and martial arts form. 

        Saturday, August 1: 6:30 p.m. during Free Family Night

    • Houston’s Got Art Talent: Daily Special. Beyond painting and drawing to movement and sculpture, Houston has an incredible art community.  Work with others to create a community mobile sculpture which dangles and spins.

            Sunday, August 2:  1 to 5 p.m.

    • Catapult Craze: Daily Special. Ancient siege machine or just a fun way to fling?  You decide!  Build your own mini-catapult to compete in a precision fling contest.  Plus, watch demonstrations as we launchwith our large catapult, the FLINGINATOR

        Tuesday, August 4:  Hourly from noon to 5 p.m. 

    • Greater Than Its Parts: Make a great mosaic image with different beautiful stones or tiles.
    • Rube Goldberg Lives!:  Design your very own Goldberg invention, like the famous cartoonist.
    • Paper Bag Inventions: What can you make from a paper sack? A doll? A kite?
    • The Great Create: Simple Machines. Get back to basics with simple machines, like the catapult and wheel and axle.
    • Animal Architects: Learn the physics and the difference between animal structures and human structures.

    

      • MUSEUM HOURS: Mon. – Sat.; 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.; Sun: Noon – 6 p.m.
      • Included with general Museum admission: $7 per person and $6 for seniors 65+. Children under 1 and Museum Members receive free admission.

         Free Family Night every Thursday 5 – 8 p.m.
