LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch is pleased to announce the return of Summer Saturdays in Cinco presented in partnership with the Cinco Ranch Associations, ARTreach, SimplyCinco and CincoLife. Summer Saturdays in Cinco is a children’s cultural arts series offering free educational performances throughout the summer. Series performances start at 10:30 a.m. and take place bimonthly on the second and fourth Saturdays in June, July and August. Performance locations will be shared between SimplyCinco, the new-home information center for the Cinco Ranch master-planned community, and Heritage Square. Both are located in LaCenterra. The center is located at 23501 Cinco Ranch Boulevard, just west of the Grand Parkway in Katy. For directions, please visit www.lacenterra.com or call (281) 395-5533.
SimplyCinco, located in Suite C 130 between Designs of the Interior and Panera Bread, will host smaller crowds and intimate events while LaCenterra’s Heritage Square will feature up-tempo performances built for larger crowds. Due to the limited capacity, SimplyCinco performances will be open to the first 35 children in the door. Admission will be on a first-come-first-seated basis. Summer Saturdays in Cinco performances are free and open to the public.
Storyteller Dan Gordon brings “Dante Teller of Tales” to SimplyCinco July 11. Guests are invited to join Dante on an exciting and interactive voyage to the Land of Stories. Dante recounts stirring tales that teach lessons of understanding differences and finding good in all. Guests are encouraged to participate in the tales with movement and voice. By the end of the adventure, voyagers will feel as if they have become storytellers themselves. A Young Audiences of Houston presentation.
Heritage Square is the site of percussionist Dan Egger-Belandria’s “Rhythm Explosion,” July 25. Guests are invited along on a musical journey that explores African, Cuban and Caribbean rhythms and folklore. For more information, visit www.senorgato.com.
Harpist Sarah Shute performs at SimplyCinco, August 8. Children will enjoy the magical and beautiful sounds of the harp just like in Jack in the Beanstalk. Sara performs on a concert grand harp that has 47 strings and 7 pedals. Although the harp has much in common with the piano, the resonance of the harp cannot be compared to any other instrument. The particular idiosyncrasies of the harp make it so unique and a beautiful musical treat. To learn more, visit www.esentialharp.com.
The final performance of the series takes place in Heritage Square with the high-energy dance of URGEWORKS, August 22. These professional hip-hop dancers from Houston will amaze guests of all ages. Internationally renowned for their positive, inspirational and motivational performances, URGEWORKS will ensure the summer ends on a high note.
