Go behind the news stories and explore the news production
June 11 - 17
WHAT: In everyday life, people are dependent on media for stories around the community. Media also reaches every part of the world that most people couldn’t reach. It is important for kids at their early age to be familiar with news, to build their critical thinking of things happening in their community and around the world. During the In the News Wonderweek, the Museum will take kids behind the news production and prepare kids to be media literate.
ALL-WEEK ACTIVITIES:

Is it News?: Every news starts with a headline, kids can learn about headline.

Caption It: You can easily find caption in every news photo, kids can write their own caption as part of kids’ news report.

The Five Ws: Kids can build their analytical thinking of news stories by using the five Ws tool.

Color of Summer: Explore how light travels, watch how colors mix and separate like magic through kinds of activities.

Wildlife Populations: Observe and learn about different populations of wildlife that live near each other.
SPECIAL EVENTS:

Flag Day: Kids can design a flag for the U.S. using the instructions in the first flag resolution of June 14, 1777, which known as the Flag Act.

Spirograph Design: Create a unique geometric design using our homemade spirographs.

Included with general Museum admission: $7 per person and $6 for seniors 65+. Children under one and Museum Members receive free admission.
