Magical reading adventure awaits kids of all ages at Katy Mills as the Simon Kidgits Club brings fictional favorites to life during its annual Book Blast! event on Saturday, February 28, 2009 from 3 - 5 p.m. With free fun for the whole family, this event is designed to introduce kids to the magical world of stories and books with delightful celebrity storytellers, engaging activities and great giveaways from qubo.

During the festivities, Katy Mills and Radio Disney will highlight the importance of literacy and reading as pathways for imagination and lifelong learning.

Kids love a good story, and Book Blast! is a great way for kids to see just how exciting reading books can be, said Cynthia Stansberry, director of mall marketing of Katy Mills. This year, weve got loads of fun planned with our sponsors. Its the perfect chance for families to spend some quality time together in a free and comfortable environment as they explore the joys of reading.

Radio Disney representatives will be on hand to read select books, including Maisy Goes To The Library, Babar - A Gift For Mother, I am Really Really Concentrating, Think Green! and Cha Cha, The Dancing Dog.

During Book Blast!, families can also sneak a peek at various family-friendly programming from qubo, a childrens TV and online entertainment service dedicated to literacy, healthy living, and providing a safe and entertaining environment that parents can trust.

Attending kids will have the chance to pick up various activity sheets. Kidgits Club Members will be eligible to receive a free, comfy Kidgits reading cushion. A petting zoo with all types of animals will entertain children at the event as well!

Children not yet members of the Simon Kidgits Club can become part of the Kidgits gang at the event ($5.00 membership fee).

Book Blast! is part of a national effort by Simon Property Group to instill a love of books in children and to encourage them to share the joy of reading with others. Kids will also have the chance to help instill a love of reading in others by bringing a new or gently used book for donation to a host of charities.

The Simon Kidgits Club Book Blast! is one of several programs and events held throughout the year for members of the Simon Kidgits Club, which focuses on health, wellness, education, safety and entertainment for children ages three through eight.
Although the event is free to members and non-members alike, families can sign up for the Kidgits Club during regular mall hours at Katy Mills Mall or online at www.simon.com/kidgits.
