"Out of This World" Heritage Family Day
Sunday, January 25 2009, 1:00pm - 4:00pm

On Sunday is the "Out of This World" Heritage Family Day. It's a free day of activities and space exploration celebrating the history of NASA and the Johnson Space Center.

Kids, and their parents, can explore the Discovery Dome planetarium on loan from the Houston Museum of Natural Science and watch 20 minute educational videos on everything from the moon, the sun and rockets. If sitting still for so long is too much for your kid then take them to the space station inflatable and let them jump around. If all the space walking gets you hungry celestial snacks— moon pies, milky ways, Tang— will be provided. Arts and crafts projects such as paper plate flying saucers and space shuttle models will be available.

Parents can take a walk down memory lane at the museum exhibit covering the first 20 years of NASA's history including Gemini, Apollo and the Johnson Space Center. Admit it, you probably wanted to be an astronaut, right?
