Sometimes the planning and organization of getting to the pool are just too much, not to mention trying to keep up with several little energetic pool lovers, and having to wear a bathing suit yourself.
Fortunately, Splash Parks in Katy come to the rescue. The kids are thrilled to run around in the spray of water, there's no fear of drowning, and parents get the joy of watching and relaxing.
The Katy area has several fun places for kids to play when the temperatures are just too hot to do anything else: (and most are free unless stated otherwise)
- Cullen Park- located at 19008 Saums Road, splash "pad", playground equipment, walking and bike trails
- Nottingham Park- splash park, frisbee golf, walking trail, and new playground equipment
- LaCenterra- fountains kids can play in
- Houston Area Water Parks- water playgrounds feature multi-colored rubber surfaces and spray and ground features
- Bane Park- 9600 West Little York, new, walking trails, playground, splash pad, fishing lake, rock wall, sand volleyball, baseball fields
- Discovery Green- downtown houston, interactive water features, playground, lake, dog runs
- Make your own Splash Park- use several different types of sprinklers and water toys, slip-n-slides, and baby pools for backyard fun
- Of course, several Katy subdivisions are now offering splash parks as an amenity. Going with a resident to enjoy their splash parks is another option.
Try keeping a beach towel and a change of clothes in your vehicle. You never know when everyone in the car needs a cool spray - including Mom & Dad! |

The Children’s Museum of Houston (CMH) wants you burned out of fun, not sunburned this summer!
That’s why we’re kicking off Memorial Day weekend celebrating “Don’t Fry Day” on Fry-day, May 27.
“Don’t Fry Day” is an actual national holiday that creates awareness about the dangers of the sun, such as skin cancer.
We are also asking visitors to bring any new chapstick or travel-size sunblock to receive a $2 off admission discount, to take these items to our troops so they don’t fry either!
Free admission to military families
Memorial Day Weekend, May 27 –30
