I just recently read the summary on youth obesity and how it's becoming more of a trend.

The research I read said that 20% of the four year old population is now obese.

I'm not going to link to the article because I haven't seen the actual research page to see how scientific and true it is, but it was pretty interesting to see how the rise in obesity is taking place in not just adults but also kids, and very young kids for that matter.

So I want to give you some tips on how to get the kids more active to make sure they stay healthy.

Ready or not... Summer is coming!

Before you know it any semblance of cool weather will be gone, children will be wanting to swim every second of every day, and parents will enjoy a break from school activities and duties. Some children may utter the words, "I'm Bored!' but it won't be the ones enrolled in fun summer camps in Katy.

But before summer sneaks up, you may want to check out some of the camps around the Houston and Katy area. FreckleTown has brought you Christian Camps, Overnight Camps in Texas, Katy VBS Programs, and now we have put together a list of Houston area Summer Camps and Katy Summer Camps for 2009.

Now is the time to do your research and get signed up. Actually, we've done most of the research for you. All you need to do is click on "Summer Camps" and look at all your choices. Most camps are already enrolling and some only enroll until April 30th so don't let the end of school craziness keep you from organizing your summer.

Rains are coming and going. Flowers are sprouting up all over and even the once yellow grass is now green. Ahhh, Spring!

There's nothing quite like this time of year. It's a new beginning for plants and can be a new beginning for Katy families as well.

With the time change, families have more time to be outside and enjoy the weather. It's a great time to spend time reconnecting as a family.
