We often think that we have trouble losing weight beyond a certain point because it’s hard to do, but what if there’s something more going on? Here is how you can tell what is really holding you back from losing weight.

I often meet people who are trying to achieve a certain weight that they haven’t accomplished in 20 or 30 years. They have their heart set on losing weight, and they are determined to make this the year that it will happen.

They start off great. The weight is coming off and they are happy as can be, then something changes. The diet isn’t as strict; they begin missing workouts or cardio sessions. Suddenly their weight loss begins to grind to a halt.

They have legitimate reasons why things have changed. The holidays came up. They have family in town. But often times I find there is something deeper that they aren’t telling me.

Katy ServeFest 2009 this past summer was so successful that many people asked to do more.

To meet the need our Katy community has to serve and love our community for Christ, we will be having a Fall Katy ServeFest. Your Katy family can register online for this community event.

October 17, 2009 from 9am-4pm volunteers will work at multiple Katy Christian Ministry locations. Katy Christian Ministries is the cornerstone of our community offering so many services to those in need.

Recently they have opened their new KCM Superstore located on Mason Rd, next to Fiesta. The store runs to help those with a need to be able to purchase clothing and household items at a very minimal cost. The profit generated from the sales goes to help fund the many services KCM provides to our community.

Lunch will be provided at each location by Chic-Fil-A.

This Katy ServeFest will have a celebration concert featuring The JoeDan Band along with other local bands.

Rice farming made a significant contribution to the Katy area economy and the Tri County Optimists wanted to honor that Katy legacy. They put together an event in 1978 held at the VFW Park and named it “Sellabration”. In 1980 they determined Sellabration outgrew them and a nucleus of Katy folks joined together to plan an event that would continue the legacy and be unique to Katy.

Bringing the community together to educate people about rice and let the farmers showcase what they do, combined with the idea of holding an art show by artists both local and statewide continued to be the discussion for local people .

The Westside Art Guild was excited about giving artists another avenue to show their work, the Katy Area Chamber of Commerce was excited about promoting the Katy area and the City of Katy was very receptive to the idea of a festival.

The Westside Art Guild, headed by Brad Hays, Sam Scardino President of the Greater Katy Area Chamber of Commerce and Lynn Cardiff, executive Director of the Chamber acted on the idea, teamed up to adopt Sellabration, renamed it the Katy Rice Harvest Festival and moved it to the streets of Katy’s town square.

Today, the annual Katy Rice Harvest Festival is two big days of excitement and family fun. It was voted the Best Annual Community Event and named one of Houston Area's Top Ten Festivals.

Funnel cakes, something on a stick, designer fries, hotdogs, pizza, snowcones, gyros, cotton candy, and many other tasty eats and treats can be found this weekend at The Rice Harvest Festival.

But the festival is much more than food. The festival offers something for everyone. Features include: two stages of continuous live entertainment, over 300 craft and food booths, carnival games, a train ride, petting zoo and lots of freebies from vendor booths.

Plan to attend The Katy Rice Harvest Festival with your family. It will prove to be a day of family fun.
